Distribution of dry ration kits to migrated labors - 02-04 2020

 As the pandemic hit the Island the administration imposed strict lockdown protocols to restrict movement of people in order to monitor the outbreak of COVID-19. Pandemic affected everyone but to some it was unforgiving, especially the migrant labourers. Most it difficult for them to get by. It was then VYK decided to mobilize funds to purchase dry ration to distribute among the labourers living in and around Bhatubasti. These labourers hailed from Bihar, Orissa, Jharkhand and West Bengal. Shri J Mohanraam Kumar, Smti, Meenambal (Directors of VYK) and Staff of VYK and other well-wishers and volunteered to realize this activity. The initiative taken by the Management of VYK to mobilize its volunteers to contact donor to help the migrate workers at least by their possible extend in this regards VYK successfully come out by distributed 540 dry ration kits worth of Rs 1,50,000/- during the first week of April, was contains 5 kg rice, 1 liter mustard oil, 2 kg masoor dal, 2 kg potato, 2 kg onion & 2 pieces of face mask, in this regards further VYK craft 45000 face mask distributed to DC south Andaman during the (Corona) lockdown period. A total of 480 migrant labourers benefited from this initiative.

Women Auto Rickshaw Driver’s:
  • Vidya Yuvakendra Foundation took a proactive step towards empowering women auto-rickshaw drivers. Recognizing the hardships faced by these individuals, the foundation provided financial assistance in the form of grants totaling Rs. 3500 to 10 deserving women auto-rickshaw drivers.
  • This initiative aimed not only to alleviate immediate financial burdens but also to empower these women to sustain their livelihoods during the unprecedented crisis. By offering support directly to female auto-rickshaw drivers, the foundation championed gender equality and economic empowerment, highlighting the importance of inclusivity in community assistance efforts.

By providing tangible support, the foundation not only helped alleviate financial strain but also fostered resilience and empowerment within the community.

COMMITMENT TO COMMUNITY WELFARE

  • Amidst the COVID-19 pandemic, Vidya Yuvakendra Foundation, in its commitment to community welfare, facilitated support for 35 women tailors. Understanding the significant impact of the pandemic on their livelihoods, the foundation provided financial assistance amounting to Rs. 1500 each.
  • This initiative aimed to alleviate the immediate financial burdens faced by women tailors, enabling them to sustain their businesses and support their families during these challenging times. By directly supporting female tailors, the foundation emphasized gender inclusivity and economic empowerment, recognizing the pivotal role these women play in their communities.
  • Through this gesture of solidarity and support, Vidya Yuvakendra Foundation demonstrated its dedication to uplifting vulnerable groups, particularly women, during crises. By offering tangible assistance, the foundation not only provided relief but also fostered resilience and empowerment within the community. 
Community-Driven Initiatives

During the challenging times of the COVID-19 pandemic, Vidya Yuvakendra Foundation has stepped forward to support local entrepreneurs. As facilitators of this initiative, the foundation has facilidated through SBI (Suv Nidhi Scheme) for Rs.10,000/- with small interest loan to five Street Vendors in various places of Bhatubasti and Garacharma.
