
Shri. Mohanraamkumar Jayaraman is an Automobile Engineer who has dedicated the past 23 years of his career to social activism on this island. His extensive experience spans various sectors, including women empowerment, promotion of Self Help Groups (SHGs), microcredit initiatives, development of microenterprises, livelihood promotion, community development, rural development, Youth Development and Dairy development. Through his work, he has played a crucial role in fostering positive change and sustainable development in these diverse areas. From 2003 to 2012, Shri. Mohanraamkumar Jayaraman, alongside his team, successfully promoted approximately 750 Self Help Groups (SHGs) in the South Andaman district. In 2009, with the support of the State Bank of India (SBI),NABARD and Rashtriya Mahila Kosh, he pioneered the implementation of a Microcredit system, disbursing a total of 8 crores Loan to various SHG Groups from 2009 to 2014.
Furthermore, in 2012, he achieved a significant milestone by spearheading the establishment of the very first Farmer Producer Organization (FPO) in the dairy sector on the islands. This groundbreaking initiative was realized through the establishment of Adhithi Milk and Agri Producer Company, which introduced the innovative Adhithi Milk fresh milk & Curd pockets. Shri. Mohanraamkumar’s efforts marked a historic moment in the island’s development, showcasing his commitment to pioneering advancements in the agricultural and dairy sectors.
In 2019, Shri. Mohanraamkumar Jayaraman successfully implemented and replicated the Animal Feed Concept of Dried Areca sheath as an alternative dry fodder for paddy straw in the Andaman & Nicobar Islands. This innovative initiative, supported by NABARD (National Bank for Agriculture and Rural Development), introduced a sustainable solution to address the fodder needs in the region. Shri. Mohanraamkumar J efforts in implementing this concept not only showcased his commitment to agricultural innovation but also contributed to the promotion of environmentally friendly and resource- efficient practices in the local farming community.
In the year 2014, Shri. Mohanraamkumar Jayaraman actively collaborated in the establishment of the Vidya Yuvakendra Foundation, demonstrating his commitment to the comprehensive development of youth. This initiative aimed at nurturing and empowering young individuals in various facets of life, encompassing educational, vocational, and personal growth. Through the foundation, Shri. Mohanraamkumar J and his team sought to create opportunities for skill enhancement, knowledge acquisition, and overall character development, contributing significantly to the holistic advancement of the youth in the community.
